Before You Ring
A few things sorted ahead of the call save time on the day, and the contact page lists what to have ready:
Where the taps turn off
knowing the water meter and the gas isolator now makes a burst a phone call rather than a flood.
A photo of the unit
a shot of the data plate on a hot water system or the model number on a cooktop saves a second trip for parts.
The street and the slope
a house up near Bullocky Rest drains differently to one down on the flats near Chandler Reserve, so tell us the street.
Which page you need
emergencies route through the emergency plumbing page, and the plumbing, drainage and hot water pages list every booked service.
Pricing and Booking Questions
The money questions come first, and the answers are short:
Call (07) 3524 7117Do I get the price before any work starts?
Yes, you get a fixed quote before any work starts, and the price you approve is the price you pay, whether the job is a washer swap or a full hot water replacement.
How can I pay when the job is finished?
Card and EFTPOS payment on site, so you settle up when the work is done and there is nothing to chase down later; we can talk through the details before we begin.
Can you get here the same day?
We work same-day where we can, so call early and we will do our best to get a plumber to you, though a big job can push a visit to the next day.
What should I have ready when I call?
Your street, a photo of any data plate or model number, and how long the fault has been running all help us bring the right parts on the first visit.
What plumbing work do you cover?
Taps, toilets, bathrooms, kitchens, leak detection and gas fitting, plus blocked drains, sewers, stormwater lines and CCTV drain inspections, with the full lists on the plumbing and drainage page.
Do you install and repair gas appliances?
We do gas fitting across the range: space heaters, water heaters, cooktops and bayonet points, connected with the right clearances and flued where the appliance calls for it, all under QBCC No: 15024607.
Do you replace hot water systems as well as repair them?
Both: repairs cover valves, elements, tempering lines and solar roof circuits, while a replacement swaps a failed tank for a new unit sized to the house, and the split is on the hot water page.
Do you clear blocked stormwater drains?
Yes, stormwater clearing is one of our drainage services, and summer loads them hard: council's overland flow mapping crosses Rebecca Crescent, so a yard drain there copes with runoff from several lots at once.
What counts as a plumbing emergency?
Water you cannot shut off, a sewer backing up inside the house, a gas smell or a failed hot water system in a house full of people, and the emergency plumbing page explains the rest.
What should I do if I smell gas?
Leave the property with everyone in the household, then call from outside and leave the switches and flames alone; the gas leaks page steps through it in full.
A pipe has burst and water is everywhere. What now?
Turn the water off at the meter, keep power away from wet areas if it is safe, and call us; the burst pipes page covers what to do in the minutes before a plumber arrives.
My toilet is overflowing. Can you come today?
Stop flushing, turn the isolating tap off at the cistern if you can reach it, and call; the toilet overflowing page has the safe steps, and we triage overflows ahead of routine bookings.
Local Questions and Booking
The questions that only make sense if you live beside the lake:
Call (07) 3524 7117Who owns which pipe in Joyner?
Unitywater looks after the water mains and the public sewer across the City of Moreton Bay; anything on the property side of the connection, out to your boundary, is yours to repair.
Does the soil cause drain problems?
It can, because reactive clay in the soil swells and shrinks with the seasons and works buried joints open slowly, so lines near the older streets and the lake flats need watching.
Are any streets cut off in floods?
Yes: the estate flats sit inside the council's flood planning areas, and when the North Pine Dam spillway tops out in the wet season the road along the eastern side closes toward Petrie.
How do I book a plumber in Joyner?
Call (07) 3524 7117, tell us what is happening and where, and we will set a time; you approve a fixed quote before any work starts and pay by card or EFTPOS on the spot.
